Nutrition

By Amanda Richardson

When we think of vacations, typically we think of eating food and a lot of it! However, a vacation doesn’t have to be a setback in your personal fitness and health goals. A 2016 study (Cooper, J. A., & Tokar, T., 2016, p. 43-47) found that vacations result in weight gain that can remain long after the vacation ends, so why not indulge in healthier food choices while your here? Despite what some may think, there are many restaurants & vendors that cater to a healthy lifestyle in Las Vegas. If you’re looking for farm fresh food, Downtown Summerlin & Green Valley Ranch host farmers markets throughout the year. If you’re looking for a tasty yet healthy restaurant, SkinnyFats, Greens & Proteins, EATT Gourmet Bistro and Rachel’s Kitchen serve flavorful dishes without sacrificing nutrition. If you need a more structured diet, Foodie Fit, 702 Prep and Modern Proteins are a few highly rated meal-prep services. Don’t want to leave the strip? Food delivery services are available through GrubHub, Uber Eats and Postmates. Through education, we are becoming increasingly aware of the dangers of obesity as indicated by organizations such as the U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services. Your vacation to Las Vegas doesn’t need to be a setback when you get home. With just a little planning you can enjoy eating without guilt while vacationing!
